Louis Chauvin (b. March 13, 1881, St. Louis, Missouri, USA – d. March 26, 1908, Chicago, Illinois, USA), a member of the ragtime community that met at Tom Turpin’s Rosebud Bar, was considered an exceptionally gifted ragtime pianist at the turn of the century by his peers. He is remembered today for writing the first two themes in his collaboration with Scott Joplin, “Heliotrope Bouquet.”
