George L. Cobb (b. August 31, 1886, Mexico, New York, USA – d. December 25, 1942, Brookline, Massachusetts, USA) attended the School of Harmony and Composition at Syracuse University in 1905, collaborated with lyricist Jack Yellen, composed many ragtime songs, including “Russian Rag",” based on Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in C# Minor,” and started writing a music column "Just Between You and Me" in the ragtime publication The Tuneful Yankee.
