Charles H. Hunter (b. May 16, 1876, Columbia, Tennessee, USA – d. January 23, 1906) attended the School for the Blind in Nashville, Tennessee, where he learned the trade of tuning pianos, worked at the Jesse French Piano store in Nashville, published several rags (“Tickled to Death,” "A Tennessee Tantalizer," "Possum and Taters," "Cotton Bolls," and "Queen of Love," transferred to the Jesse French Piano Store in St. Louis, wrote more rags (“Just Ask Me," "Why We Smile," “Back to Life”) married, then died six weeks later from tuberculosis.
